Even though the play has been in previews for over 3 weeks, opening night is still opening night. The audience is filled with VIPs and special guests and this is the night you want everything to tick. All cylinders running top notch.
Even though the show has deepened and found a wider array of colors in these past few weeks in front of an audience, the hum of anticipation on opening gets the adrenaline running a little more. They’ll play the play and “let it step into its own light,” as I’ve been known to say.
My wish for them all – cast, crew, creative team – is that they continue to trust each other, depend upon their excellent work, and let the play live through them. It is a testament to their human creative spirit. May it have a wonderful life on that stage!
